St. Non’s Chapel

(Pembrokeshire 2019)

Stones shaped by wind and salt
now roofless to the open sky,
a silent song still held in the
flowing stream nearby.

Did David know this place
as the house where God spoke?
What language could there be
to share with faithless folk?

He went on, building a place
far bigger, and more grand,
to show in glass and stone
the vision God had planned.

It was here in this small place
close by the booming sea,
he heard the voice that moves
the stars, sets the people free.
