Sunset

Here we go again, a fresh lockdown
no place to go, as pubs and cafes
shut their doors and stack the chairs.

Feels like running to just stand still,
no end in sight, as infections rise
and death comes unawares.

Shut within our homes, we wait
for hopeful news, a vaccine tested
but not yet on the street.

And now in chill November’s air, no
bonfires blaze, just a few forlorn
fireworks Plot Night greet.

To raise our spirits once again, fire
lights the sky, as sunset gives the
folding hills a fiery glow.

Nature again comes to our aid,
turning sorrow round, putting on
her far superior show.
