Poem of the Month, May 2017: Recent Events

The Moon is square to Saturn
and my timing is all wrong.
The shop was not yet open,
the morning took too long.

Bath. Lunch. Station. Ostend.
Promise of twenty degrees.
Maria needs a break. It’s
an opportunity to seize.

Now it’s market day in Bruges
and Saturn is forgotten.
Potatoes for my partner
who sometimes calls me “rotten”.

Richie’s back from Scotland,
a hallucinating trip.
Zina entertains the mob,
she’d love to do a strip.

The pair from Alicante
might stay with us for lunch.
Diane has Quaker origins.
I’ll meet the Wednesday bunch.
