Poem of the Month, January 2018: Leaving for Düsseldorf

LEAVING FOR DÜSSELDORF

I will miss you, dear Maria
on this little German trip
and hope your precious ankle
stays firm and doesn’t slip.

These are days of dreary darkness
and nights of pouring rain
when Catalonia’s President
must long to be in Spain.

I gaze around the parlour
of our cosy little home
and see your Soul in alles –
I put you in my Pome.

“Everything always changes”,
that’s the standard Buddhist view.
But even though I go away
I still am true to You.

You sometimes “nag” a little,
you’re not twenty any more.
Yet you have a shapely figure
and your cooking I adore.

AMEN.
(Ah! Men!)
