It’s hard to be cheerful with all the bad news,
\nof covid mutations, and now flooding too.
\nOur hospitals struggling with many more cases,
\nwards overrun, despair in their faces.
\nBut here, in the gloom of our village street,
\na solitary Christmas tree lit up a treat!
\nNot put away with the tinsel and cards,
\nbut flashing bright in a dark winter yard.<\/p>\n
Bombarded with problems, shut in at home,
\nin darkness and rain, unable to roam,
\nwe need a reminder that all is not lost;
\nwe will get through, despite the high cost.
\nThis little tree shines in the morning air,
\nflashing its message: Throw out despair.
\nLife is not finished if you can have fun,
\nmake people laugh, and the spirit has won.<\/p>\n
