These stones
\nare strange, familiar giants;
\nEaster Island myths
\non laundered grass.
\nHuman megaliths of
\npolished evolution –
\nmachined erosion to
\na Godlike line.
\nThey are explorers, signs
\nof mountainous rock;
\ncavernous mysteries for
\nblind, sensitive fingers
\nseeking beauty. How?
\nMiner’s arms, and
\nfarmer’s heart, with
\nmason’s art combined.
\nTransmute our dust
\ninto a noble monument;
\nbut these stones
\nwill not soften in
\nthe spring rain.
\nThe wind and frost
\ncannot crack them.
\nChildren slap and slide
\nover them laughing.
\nBut they only smile
\nunseen, and stand
\neternal;
\nBones of man’s past,
\nsentinels of the future<\/p>\n
