Breathless we crest the
\nsteep ridge onto the top
\nof Dufton Pike, to find,
\ntwo young women in
\nsummer shorts, doing
\nyoga in the hot sun.<\/p>\n

For us a challenge of
\nsternest kind, for them
\na morning jaunt with a
\nbouncing spaniel dog,
\nto celebrate youth and
\nathletic prowess.<\/p>\n

Alone, we sit for lunch
\non the springy turf,
\nalong alpine flowers
\nin the midday sun.
\nThen, miracle arrives
\nspiralling in the sky.<\/p>\n

A skylark tiny against
\nthe billowing cloud,
\nsoaring song filling
\nthe void above, and
\nechoing across the
\nbone dry fells.<\/p>\n

If age we must, then
\nthis is clear, that
\nnature allows us
\ntimeless moments
\nin our journey, to
\nsavour life anew.<\/p>\n
