Silently the healing snow came, falling
\nflake by flake on the weeping earth,
\nBut, the grey clouds lost their menace
\nwith its fall, as children called, excited
\nby a new, cold, playground.<\/p>\n
And sledges, dusty from their sleep,
\nwere dragged onto the rising white
\ncarpet of joyful snow. Lanes clogged
\nby tractor’s muddy wheels, became
\nbright skating rinks.<\/p>\n
The skeletal trees were clothed with
\ngentle shrouds of white, enveloping
\ntheir winter nakedness. The hedges
\nbowed low with frozen foam in
\ndazzling light bedecked.<\/p>\n
We, roused from our deadened slumber,
\nlost the sullen ache of being confined
\nby a silent viral threat, and slowly
\nbegan to smile and breathe
\nwelcome to the day.<\/p>\n
Shovels scrape along the street, each
\nwielded by a willing teenager, keen
\nto build a proud, dustbin, snowman.
\nThere he stands, his jaunty hat and
\ncarrot nose defiant!<\/p>\n
Snow lifts our confined lethargy
\nand makes us laugh again at
\nsimple things. Changing our dull,
\ngrey winter mood, and somehow
\nmakes our spirits sing.<\/p>\n
