It’s all about speed, and instant connection
\na push-button age that lacks introspection.
\nThey must have it now, tomorrow’s too late,
\njust a click on a mouse, with no need to wait.<\/p>\n
With desktop, and laptop, tablet and phone
\nthe world is our oyster, we are never alone.
\nWall to wall news, entertainment galore
\nalways in touch, who could ask for more?<\/p>\n
But, the older you are the harder it gets
\nto keep up the pace, one so quickly forgets.
\nAnd forced to stay in, far more than expected,
\nfearing the virus, we’ve become disconnected.<\/p>\n
It’s solitary confinement for months at a time,
\nwith all your friends absent, it’s really a crime.
\nTry as we may, it just doesn’t feel pleasant
\nto talk via Zoom, all blurry and hesitant.<\/p>\n
The telephone is there, if you know the number,
\nor remember the name, now that is a wonder.
\nFor our generation, face to face is the best –
\nwhich means next year. If we’re free of the pest.<\/p>\n
