Why does everything pass me by
\nand make me feel redundant?
\nWhy are people so pre-occupied,
\nrushing by me, so expectant?
\nIf life is defined by the pace we go
\nI am not sure who I am or why,
\nbecause I move so slowly now,
\nI cannot hurry, even though I try!<\/p>\n
But, surely life is more than pace,
\nwe miss so much by speeding;
\nvital details blur as you flash by
\nwhich, going slower, I’m reading.
\nWhat is progress after all, if we
\nhave no time to watch or wait,
\nto see nature’s unfolding grace
\nput simple treasures at our gate.<\/p>\n
Spring trees bursting into bloom,
\nlambs playing tag across a field,
\nfledglings waiting to be fed, are
\nlittle events that each day yield.
\nMoments of beauty, or of fun,
\nlike doves bowing and cooing
\nin courtship dance. Who won?<\/p>\n
This year has brought more space
\nto reflect on the things we do,
\nhow much time gallops by, as
\nwe search in vain for what is new.
\nLife in the slow lane isn’t wasted,
\nyou can see, and hear much more,
\nwhen you are rooted to the spot,
\nand find the wonder at your door.<\/p>\n
