There is a new infection
of viral empathy,
humans loving humans
in mutual sympathy.
‘Black Lives Matter’ on
banners held up high,
in big cities everywhere
we hear the people cry.
Change history today,
stop racism’s oppression
every life is sacred,
let that be our lesson.
One strong black man,
with empathy infected,
helped a white opponent
by injury affected.
All life matters now
way beyond the slogans,
we must work together
turn it into programmes.
Ban slavery today
treat people with respect,
write it into laws
with immediate effect.
Hatred gets us nowhere
destroying all we cherish,
love and respect our aim
otherwise we perish.
It really is infectious
this viral empathy,
people loving people
is all we want to see.
